  Chris Murray with "Redhawk", a full sized Red-Tail Hawk in flight, commissioned in 2000 by The Redhawk Golf Resort in Sparks Nevada. The Hawk is sculptured from Tupelo wood and painted with acrylics. The sculpture took 2012 hours to create over a period of two years.
 
 


Chris Murray, Master Carver

Chris Murray was born in 1947 in Philadelphia, PA. His interest in carving began shortly after college. He attended wildlife art shows in the late sixties throughout the South. In the early seventies Chris opened his first Wildlife Art Gallery along the beautiful French Creek in St. Peters Village, PA. Years later after carving hundreds of ducks and birds he became a full time Wildfowl Carver.

Chris spent the next thirty years in Maine and Vermont studying the magnificent raptors of New England. In 2001 Chris became Resident Artist at the Consevancy of Southwest Florida in Naples, Florida. He held that position for six years and decided to move back home to Pennsylvania to be closer to his family and grandchildren.

Chris is a self-taught artist and teacher. He has studied birds in their natural habitats throughout the United States. His carvings are in private collections throughout the U. S. and the world. He has won top honors at competitions all over the U.S. including The Ward Foundation's World Carving Competition in Ocean City, Maryland.

Chris has moved his studio to Kimberton, PA where he offers beginners and advanced carving lessons, group seminars and the finest in hand carved and painted Wildfowl.
